What Is Professional Development?
Who is it For?

In the ever-evolving landscape of education, teachers are faced with new challenges every school year. As Jean-Baptiste de La Salle wisely stated, “Teachers who are not actively involved in the learning process themselves force their students to drink from stagnant water.” This sentiment echoes the belief that continual growth is essential, an idea encapsulated by William S. Burroughs’ assertion that “if you’re not growing, you’re dying.”

The dynamics of classrooms are changing, from shifts in use of technology and evolving learning styles. As we navigate a new reality, educators must adapt swiftly to avoid hindering their students’ education. The challenges presented this year, compounded by the fact that 1 in 4 children in classrooms across the United States will be English language learners (ELL) by 2025, according to the National Education Association (NEA), have compelled us to reassess and redefine our approach to teaching.

Whether you’re a passionate educator seeking continuous growth, a novice teacher embarking on your teaching journey, or a seasoned professional feeling adrift amidst the changes, there’s something valuable for everyone in my coaching sessions and workshops.

For those who believe in being lifelong learners and aspire to enhance their students’ experiences in the virtual classroom, these workshops are a must. Let me show you how to remain calm, cool, and collected, transforming 2024-2025 into your most successful school year to date. Embrace the opportunities for growth and join me on this journey of professional development that will not only benefit you but also positively impact the education you provide to your students.

Testimonials

“Lizette’s “Speaking Like a Diplomat Presentation” was an exciting way to learn new strategies to teach listening skills (essential for MLLs)in the classroom. Using an interactive, theme-based approach, she successfully led participants in applying these strategies and stimulated discussion along the way. ESL instructors from across NYS were able to connect with one another and walk away with a series of practical skills as a result of Lizette’s efforts. She is a dynamic speaker and leads presentations with ease and enthusiasm!”
Jordan VanHorn
NYC Chair, NYS TESOL
“What I love about Lizette’s pedagogy is her down-to-earth, no-nonsense approach, and the fact that the students she places her focus on are the same ones she identifies with, having grown up Latina, proud, and so smart! This has been her guiding force behind her loving teaching.”
Dr. Jossie O'Neill
International Educational Consultant
“As a pre-service teacher, I not only had the great opportunity to learn from a very knowledgable and experienced professional but also witnessed first-hand the brilliance of her kindness and devotion to the students, which is incredibly inspiring. I firmly believe in her work ethic and commitment to developing a learning environment where kids can truly thrive. Mrs. Roman is a mentor to me, and I feel grateful I have her example and support. I aspire to reach the same levels of expertise and respect she has accomplished in her career. ”
